Angela Blaikie
I work in the nursery doing wraparound as well as working in out of School Care doing supply work when needed. Every Thursday night I do volunteering work by running the 2nd Hawick Girls Brigade company.
I enjoy working with the children doing arts & crafts, games, baking and outdoor play. This gives me more ideas and experience for working in the after school club.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and socialising for coffee, I also like going out for meals and especially enjoy going on shopping trips.

I first became interested in out of school care back in 2001 when I was looking for things for my son to do. I then joined a committee of parents and we worked together to develop what is now Drumlanrig out of school club. I joined SBOOSCN to represent voluntary managed committees and give things from our point of view.
The experience I gained led me to go into a career in Childcare. My current post is Development Worker at Fairplay Burnfoot .

I come from a Play background and have a SVQ level 2 & 3 in Playwork , SVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education and NVQ Level 4 in Early Years Care and Education. I am passionate about play and the importance it has on promoting children’s development and confidence in self. I am looking forward to the future with Play Borders and all the fun play opportunities we have planned for 2015 :)

I joined
Play Borders when I moved from Glasgow to the Scottish
Borders. I was really excited to learn about their Go Play project
and was successful in my application as an Outdoor Free Play Specialist.
Although I initially qualified in Neuroscience; I have
always worked with children in one setting or another. The Go Play
project has allowed me to share my love of the outdoors and help support out of
school care providers to present children with the opportunity to engage in
outdoor free play. I have now joined the committee of Play Borders since the conclusion of the Go Play project .
